CANCELLATION OF CITY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

In the light of the Government’s Coronavirus update in the last hour, the salient point for us was the view that any mass gatherings, large or small should be avoided.

The Committee therefore feel that it would be irresponsible trying to run cross country races after that advice.

The LPSAA Large and Small Schools’ City Cross Country Championships on Thursday 19th March 2020, and consequently the LPSAA City Cross Country Championships on Monday 30th March 2020 are cancelled.

There are no alternative dates for these races to be rescheduled in the future, in the extremely unlikely event that restrictions will be lifted.

This leaves us with the thorny problem of the distribution of awards.

It was planned to hold the presentation of the Zoe Tynan Spirit of Running Award on Thursday. This will now be held in abeyance until we know whether we are to get an athletics’ season.

In addition, 51 children have represented Liverpool in the cross country season and will receive an award. Also, 17 children from Liverpool were selected for the Merseyside team which was to compete in the National Finals in Loughborough, unfortunately now cancelled. Those children will be awarded their medal and County T shirt.

I will let you know how we will get all those awards to the children when we’ve worked it out.

Hopefully, we will see you at the athletics. Maybe.

Thanks

Tony
